Tourism
The Cradle Coast Authority has a dedicated team of tourism personnel who are responsible for creating local, regional and state partnerships, and implementing strategies to ensure that the region maximises its tourism potential. The Authority has a Service Agreement with Tourism Tasmania to deliver strategies and programs at a regional and local level.
It is widely recognised that the region’s tourism industry needs to build its capacity in order to attract more visitors and to facilitate private investment through strategic development of key areas including infrastructure, planning, market research and training.
The management and implementation of partnerships and identified tourism strategies and priorities collectively forms the basis of the Authority’s tourism role.

Food Producer Survey Cradle Coast Food & Beverage Strategy – From Source to Sensation
This strategy is the first of its kind in Tasmania. It is a dual industry strategy that will deliver significant benefits to the primary sector and to the tourism industry.
The aim in developing this strategy was to establish a Cradle Coast food and beverage tourism sector that is able to compete with other regions, develop strong brand value and awareness of the region’s produce off shore and add value to the existing Cradle Coast tourism “experience”.
There are at least two major outcomes that can be expected from the successful implementation of this strategy:
1.The development of a brand for Cradle Coast produce that will increase the value of Tasmania’s Cradle Coast produce
2.Increased and improved food and beverage related experiences for visitors to the region

Regional Event Assistance Program 2008
Applications are now open for the Regional Even Assistance Program (REAP), which offers grants of up to $5,000 to regional events and festivals being held in Tasmania in 2009.
REAP is a partnership between Events Tasmania, Cradle Coast Authority, Northern Tasmania Development and Totally South Tourism. The program aims to contribute to the growth of the Tasmanian tourism industry.
Regional festivals and events wishing to apply for the REAP must propose a project that will increase the sustainability of the event, attract visitors to the region, and provide regional tourism benefits.
Regional Tourism Authorities are the contacts for event organisers seeking advice on their application to the program, and they can also advise prospective applicants on whether they are eligible to apply.
