Regional Economic Development Committee
Our Regional Development work is guided by the Regional Economic Development Committee (REDC) which is a sub-committee of the Cradle Coast Authority Board. The Committee’s role is to think and act regionally in developing the capability and capacity of the Region’s resources, including renewables, critical minerals, agriculture, advanced manufacturing, and, of course, improving the region for its people through a focus on health, housing and transport.

Ian Jones
Ian has been a member of REDC for 3 years.
He contributes knowledge and leadership to the work of REDC and to growing capability of business and social assets in the region. He brings the voice of significant networks in the North West to the Committee, in affiliations with a number of organisations, including roles as;
- President of Business North West (2018 – 2024)
- Chair Clean Energy Tasmania
- Vice Chair North West Tasmanian Veterans Welfare Board
- Director TCCI
- Board member West North West Working.
Jim Ertler
Jim is the Managing Director and Co-Founding Director of Premium Fresh Tasmania Pty Ltd. As the co-founder and major shareholder of Premium Fresh Tasmania Ian is heavily invested in the ongoing prosperity of CCA region.
Ian was born in Devonport and has spent most of his life on the North West Coast of Tasmania and after visiting many locations around the world, Ian’s belief in the untapped potential of this unique region has only been reinforced.
Premium Fresh Tasmania was created in part, from a belief in the quality of Tasmania and its products.
Vonette Mead
Vonette is currently Director of Master Builders Tasmania, with experience of multiple boards and committees, including REDC since 2019. Her other Business / Member Organisations include; KaLIBA; DCCI and Master Builder Association. She is also a part of Ambassador Program for the North West Football League and a member of the Port Sorrell History Group.
Co-owner and Operations Manager of Mead Con, a construction company in Tasmania, Vonette has over three decades of experience in the construction industry and is integral to leading the business through the challenges of economic and environmental impacts.
Vonette continues to expand networks and develop skills and knowledge to ensure she is well placed to perform her duties and obligations in Board roles.
Luke Sayer
Luke is the Regional Economic Development Coordinator, North West – Department of State Growth and Chair of BIG work group.
Luke has extensive experience in media and communications, government liaison and lobbying, policy, event planning and management, governance, board membership and corporate responsibilities, strategy and leadership. Strong understanding of lean, competitive systems and practices and Six Sigma.
Cyndia Hilliger
Cyndia has a long-standing career in customer service, sales, hospitality and business, most recently moving to Wynyard to rescue and develop a motel into the first of its kind boutique shipping container accommodated known as Waterfront Wynyard, currently rated #1 motel, as rated by customer reviews.
Undertaking multiple voluntary roles, Cyndia’s current roles include;

Jess Jansz
Jess is currently Managing Director of Savant Australia, while maintaining roles as Small Business Mentor with My Pathway and Lean Trainer & SWE Team Leader for Productivity Improvers. Her achievements include managing a successful non- accredited training firm, design and management of numerous projects for various industries, with proven outcomes, and providing quality business support to numerous businesses across Tasmania, across multiple industries and organisational scale.
Jess thrives in dynamic and innovative work environments, relishing collaboration with like-minded individuals. Her passion lies in cultivating meaning relationships with stakeholders and making a substantial impact on our community.
Nicci Skerl
Nicci is interested in volunteering her time to contribute her social care and community knowledge whilst deepening her experiences and connection to all the elements that make the Cradle Coast thrive.
Previously Nicci held the position of Community & Youth Manager – North West Region St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania Inc. and is currently Team Leader – North West | The Smith Family
Her current projects include participation in: BIG Committee, Justice Group – Burnie Works in its very early stages of establishment.
PVC Sonya Stanford
Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Cradle Coast region.
Sonya has had an up-close view and involvement with the life-changing potential of higher education, particularly for students in regional areas of lutrawita/Tasmania.
She has held academic and senior leadership positions including Head of Discipline for Social Work and most recently the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching Performance for the College of Arts, Law and Education and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Cradle Coast) for the Academic Division of UTAS. She also has executive and expert advisor experience on state, national and international boards and forums focused on social work education and research, including Associate Editor for Australian Social Work and Treasurer of the Australian Council of Heads of Schools of Social Work.
She has been recognised for these contributions as recipient of Best Academic Educator in Social Work (2011) and Welfare Education and the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Leadership (2020).
Adrian Beswick
Adrian has 10 years’ experience working in the HR profession within the Tasmanian Health Service / Dept of Health across multiple specialisations. Most recently this has been in business management supporting the financial and business development of the Medical Workforce in the North West region and the Primary Health workforce, including in the region’s district hospitals and community nursing services.
He is currently Principal Officer for Workforce Planning, coordinating the development of the North West Workforce Plan tailored to improve health outcomes for NW Tas.
Adrian also manages a 450 acre family farm, specialising in paddock to plate lamb and beef sales. He is a passionate North West Coast resident and keen to engage with community and ensure future generations have the same opportunity to thrive in life through sustainable development.

Brendan Fielding
Brendan has a keen interest in emerging technologies as well as the renewable energy sector.
Brendan is currently the Business Development Manager of Fluid Power Services; his background and experience is largely with Defence Industries and Hydraulics.
Brendan’s hobbies include car / kart racing where he has been involved in many disciples of the sport. He believes the experience gained from racing has helped him develop skills in negotiation, team work and time management.
Alexander McKenzie
Alexander McKenzie graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws with Honours in Law. Admitted to practice in 2014, Alex began his legal career following a period working at a winery in Switzerland before returning to Tasmania to join Butler McIntyre & Butler as a graduate lawyer.
In 2016, Alex joined McLean McKenzie & Topfer, where he works within the litigation team and became a Director of the firm in 2022. He practises across a broad range of areas including industrial accidents and workers compensation, medical negligence, motor vehicle accidents, general insurance claims, criminal law, court matters and agency work.
Beyond his legal practice, Alex is actively involved in the Tasmanian community. He has served on the Board of the Tasmanian Council of Social Service since 2017 and is currently its President. He is also a Director of the Tasmanian Community Fund and RACT Group Pty Ltd.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys cycling along Tasmania’s North West Coast, sailing, and spending time at Sisters Beach with his wife Samantha, daughter Lexie, their dog Pudding, and friends and family.
