Alexander Beetle House is located in the heart of Burnie, on Alexander Street, situated next door to the public library. Established in the 1970’s, Alexander Beetle House has a strong history of providing exceptional education and care to children in the Burnie community.
Our service has strong connections with the local community, including a supportive and cooperative relationship with the Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Center, providing opportunities for children to grow and learn in an environment that strengthens children’s sense of belonging.
Alexander Beetle House operates from 6:30 am – 6:30 pm Monday to Friday, offering Long Day Care for children aged birth to 15, across 4 developmentally and age appropriate rooms.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Permanent Full Time Early Childhood Centre Director.
A rare and exciting leadership opportunity exists at our Early Learning Centre in Burnie for an experienced and professional individual to lead the team in delivering a quality early education and care program. Alexander Beetle House prides itself on providing positive and challenging learning environments for children with an emphasis on relationships with families and the community. The Director will be responsible for nurturing a positive and lively culture of collaboration and innovation while ensuring a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated effective leadership, experience in early childhood education and care, a strong understanding of the approved Learning Frameworks and National Quality Standards, maturity and a desire to provide opportunities for all children to learn and thrive are a must.
Applicants must have regular availability and flexibility to work a range of shifts during our opening hours from 6.30am-6.30pm.
A generous remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
The successful applicant must hold a minimum Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
Leadership and management experience in early childhood
Comprehensive knowledge of the Education and Care National Quality Framework
Comprehensive knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and Framework for School Age Care
Current Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration (Tasmania), or ability to obtain one

Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework (NQS) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Demonstrated commitment to professional learning, development and reflective practice to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.
Demonstrated early childhood education and care practices that are guided by the service Philosophy, code of ethics, policies and procedures.
The ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team, ensuring collaboration, effective and respectful communication and trusting relationships.
Proven experience or capacity to perform in leadership roles in early education and care settings, with a high level of effective communication, organisational, time management skills and initiative to manage competing priorities and complex scenarios.
