LAND – SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

The fertile Cradle Coast region is one of the most important agricultural regions in Tasmania, especially for vegetable and dairy production.  With 64.7% of the state’s vegetable production, 59.6% of its milk production and 55.1% of its beef cattle production, the north-west region has been called the “food bowl of Tasmania”.

The Cradle Coast Authority NRM Sustainable Agriculture team works to protect and improve our productive landscapes by ensuring a sustainable balance between economic, environmental and social values.

We frequently offer training and networking opportunities for landholders, and occasionally have funding available for special projects. Previous projects have focused on nutrient management, soil condition, integrated pest management, and best practice soil health techniques. See some case studies here.
