LIVING IN LATROBE

The Latrobe Council area is a rural, rural-residential and urban area, with townships at Latrobe and Port Sorell, and smaller townships at Hawley Beach and Shearwater. Rural land is used largely for forestry and agriculture, particularly crop growing (poppies, fruit and vegetables) and livestock production. Tourism is also an important industry. The Council area encompasses a total land area of about 600 square kilometres.
